How to Care for Your Tempur-Pedic Mattress

If you intend to purchase a Tempur-Pedic mattress, then you probably already know how life-changing it can be! In order to make sure that it continues to serve your needs for years to come,  you will have to take care of it properly so that it can last. Follow these tips from your trusted Albuquerque mattress store, and you’ll be enjoying your Tempur-Pedic for many years!

Don’t rotate: Your Tempur-Pedic mattress is not like any other mattress, it is quite firm and is made to maintain its shape. They do not easily submit to low spots so there’s little need to rotate it frequently so that it can handle many years of use.

Heating pads and electric blankets: You should not use a heating pad or an electric blanket with Tempur-Pedic mattresses. The material used in making a Tempur-Pedic mattress is temperature sensitive, so additional heat is likely to deter its capability to respond to the temperature of your body and conform to your body’s contours. If you need to use an electric blanket or heating pad, you should limit your usage to a maximum of 30 minutes!

Mattress pads and covers: You should avoid using conventional mattress covers or pads with Tempur-Pedic mattresses because they tend to add a layer between you and the Tempur materials, thus reducing the mattress’s ability to conform to the shape of your body.

Avoid drinks on the bed: Any kind of spills can damage the foam of your Tempur-Pedic mattress. However, if you do accidentally spill on the mattress, then you can absorb the spills with a clean thick cloth. You should subsequently air dry the mattress and can speed up the drying process by placing a fan near the mattress. The Tempur material should not be washed.

If it has a mattress cover, then remove it and wash it in cold water with a mild detergent then hang it out to dry. You should not think of using bleach or any other bleaching products with the cover. You can buy a special wet safe cover for extra protection against spills.

Using the handles: The handles on some Tempur-Pedic mattresses should only be used for re-positioning and not carrying over long distances.

Transportation: When transporting or storing the Tempur-Pedic mattress, you should lay it flat and not on the side or folded.
